The European Cluster Conference 2019
The 6th edition of the European Cluster Conference that will take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 14 to 16 May. It will bring together 400 cluster policy-makers, cluster managers, practitioners and other stakeholders. The event is organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs together with Romania, under the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The conference will feature high-level policy discussions, inspiring speeches and practical good practice examples about recent and future priorities for cluster policies and developments to support sustainable industrial modernisation and interregional cooperation.
The spotlight will be on building bridges among the different actors of the cluster community, and discussions will focus on topics such as digitisation and skills gap, circular economy, shared value and social impact. The conference will use an interactive approach, where participants will be invited to actively contribute, collaborate and co-create.
Each year, the members of the Council of European BioRegions meet to discuss, network, receive and provide information on the past current and future state of clusters within the life science sector.
The conference takes place on the first day, with speakers from the public and private sector. It provides an opportunity for cluster managers to understand in more detail the local life science cluster ecosystem. In 2019, this will be the Athens vibrant scene.
The European Commission has the pleasure to announce the EU Cluster Weeks main Anchor event that will take place on 1-2 April 2019, in the Hanover Fair premises (Hanover, Germany), in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), in the context of the German Cluster Week 2019 kick-off event.
The EU Cluster Weeks anchor event will notably promote cluster internationalisation opportunities, and more specifically with Canada, in close cooperation with the Canadian Innovation, Science and Economic Development Ministry (ISED)
This event will be opened with high-level keynote speeches and will offer several networking possibilities.
If you wish to be part of this unique opportunity, please save the date: a call for expression of interest, with reimbursement possibilities, can be submitted until 27.02.2019: more information can be found here.
On March 27, the event will be an opportunity to exchange information on the importance of intellectual property (IP) for European SMEs doing business in Latin America, China and Southeast Asia. If an SME goes international without protection, its brand is vulnerable to copycats, and its intellectual assets are exposed to risk. More specifically, the event will aim to:
inform SME intermediaries on the SME instrument and the IP services offered by the Helpdesks (with live case studies from companies);
train SME intermediaries on relevant IP topics that can be applied horizontally across the three regions; and
create an ongoing dialogue/discussion among participants about the importance of IP for SMEs in the light of the three different economic sectors
This event is jointly organised by the China, Latin America and South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesks, three initiatives funded by the European Union.
